I spit the shells. When I was at BGSU in the late 80's/early 90's Downtown had fresh roated penuts and I'd eat them shell and all if we'd been hitting it just a bit too hard.

    I'm a spitter. You're a freak if you don't spit the shell.

Back when I was playing ball, I actually didn't do either. I would put about 20 or so seeds in my mouth, suck on them between at bats (while playing defense and all) and then when it came time for my next AB, I would spit all of them out while walking up to the box to hit. I would repeat this process every at bat, for every game. Needless to say, the left handed side of the box was pretty cluttered by the end of the game.

I don't eat them. I just figured it would be like eating wood.

For me? It was a baseball thing...I don't know. After a while it became a tradition or even a superstition, if you will.

Plus once you start, ya can't stop.

I eat the shells. It takes a little longer to chew through them but it is a lot less mess.

I'm a spitter with sunflower seeds. I've been known to eat a peanut shell here and there.

While we're on topic, David's flavored sunflower seeds are pretty good. I'm a fan of the dill and the jalapeno.

Eat the shells? Talk about a painful crap later on...I'll stick to just the seeds themselves
