He's played good left field this year. Much improved. He's red hot at the bat, almost carrying the team (along with Phillips). The time has come to stop removing Adam Dunn from games in double switches.
Meanwhile, Griffey played 18 innings today after a night game yesterday. He stays out there no matter what.
Keep Dunn in the game.

An excuse I read, and it is a decent one, is that Griffey was batting #3 and Dunn #5, so it would have meant the pitcher batting two spots higher in the order. However, that is a moot point if Dusty could correctly fill out a lineup card...

Imo, Dunn with his large frame may have gotten to that ball. Freel didn't have to go far, but his stubby little frame left him a foot short.I agree KC.

Again, Dusty doesn't have the onions to pull the awful Griffey from the game defensively, or move him from the No. 3 hole in the lineup that he has turned into an abyss.
Perhaps Dusty has been told to keep Griffey in the game until he gets 600. Dusty may be taking that too literally. Griff playing 18 today really is questionable.
I can't understand why Baker put Freel in as a defensive replacement for Dunn. Freel has been awful in the field this year, both at 3B and LF. He should have been charged with several errors the last three games.
That ball in left field should have been caught today. Dunn would have caught it. Freel got a late jump then misplayed it at the end. It cost us the game.
Then Freel makes a bonehead baserunning play later in the game that erased a chance to win.
If you're going to keep Griffey in RF, there's simply zero justification to allow Dunn to be double-switched out of the game.
They're a wash defensively (with the edge possibly going to Dunn, since he plays a less important position), and Dunn's bat is far superior to anything Griffey brings to the table.
The simple answer is that Dunn belongs in the game at all times. His bat is worth the risk of an occasional extra base hit.
