    Let us not forget...

...that Danny Herrera was a part of the Volquez-Hamilton deal too. The guy has been lights out at both Chattanooga and Louisville--in AAA he has a 1.08 ERA in 16 innings as a reliever with 14 Ks and only 2 walks. I certainly don't think that Herrera will ever be considered the upside in the deal, but he's certainly no throw-in. And as much as Hamilton is tearing it up, having Volquez who leads all MLB in Ks and ERA and is a serious contender to start the All-Star game, makes the Reds staging a comeback possible. With Herrera, I think that as of now, the Reds have the better of the deal. Thoughts?

how many times are we going to talk about this trade ??

if volquez fell flat on his arse this year and hamilton continued to tear it up, would your opinion swing the other way ??

the trade was a good trade - ranger's needed to get rid of some pitching that we needed, we needed to ditch a CF to eventually make room for bruce. end of story.

The Rangers' need for pitching is greater than that of the Reds.

This is true. I think this basically comes down to the Reds doing a better job of scouting than the Rangers and the Reds having a surplus of left-handed-hitting outfielders (Bruce, Dunn, Griffey, Dickerson, Dorn, etc.).

Another good point, but don't forget the Ranger's have always been an offense-first team....
