No problem. You got a steal with Crow at #12.

Re: 2008 mock draft seclection thread

I told my brother, Jay Bruce that his pick was up, and he quickly resorted to "JP Ricciardi mode", by simply asking, who are the best college players available, while completely ignoring any kind of high school talent. After that, it came to which player's name he found the most amusing.

Toronto selects, Ike Davis, OF, Arizona State

With the 18th pick of the 2008 draft the New York Mets, pride of Gotham, select Jason Castro, the next great catcher in the National League, from Stanford Universty.

Re: 2008 mock draft seclection thread

With the 19th pick the hated Chicago Cubs select Ryan Perry, SP/RP, Arizona. He is still a raw pitching prospect, but he has two, possibly three, plus pitches and could be in the majors quickly as a reliever or a long-term project as a starter. Just the kind of high-reward pick the Cubs can afford in the mid-1st round if they can work with him on his mechanics...
"On-base percentage is great if you can score runs and do something with that on-base percentage," Baker said. "Clogging up the bases isn't that great to me."

The Tigers select Andrew Cashner, P, TCU.

And a bold prediction - he'll be in the Tiger bullpen in August.

With its 2nd pick in the 2008 MLB draft, and 22d pick overall, the best team in America's largest city, the New York Mets, select Ethan Martin, great pitching and hitting prospect from Stephen County High School, pride of Toccoa, Georgia.

Re: 2008 mock draft seclection thread

Because of mega-bust Matt Bush, I figure the San Diego Padres are still gunshy about high school bats. However, with the best college arms off the board I believe the Padres with pick #23 select:

Zach Collier, right fielder, Chino Hills HS, California
