Re: 2008 mock draft seclection thread

Well let me tell you, the Red Sox are peeved. Everyone they hoped would slip didn't. So they've decided to take a guy they consider to be a major sleeper.

Also, as many might remember, John Forsythe starred in television show "Dynasty." Since the Red Sox now are a dynasty they will be taking Arkansas 3B Logan Forsythe, who's clearly the most dynastic player available.

With all the comic book movies being made, I think this needs to be brought to the top of the list.

I'm thinking Trevor Linden gets top billing.

To start the second round, the Minnesota Twins make sure they shore up the third base position by selecting Reese Havens, University of South Carolina.

Re: 2008 mock draft seclection thread

The New York Mets are extremely excited to announce they have selected David Cooper, slugging first sacker and premier college bat with the 33rd overall pick of the 2008 draft.

Mets GM Omar Mimaya was ecstatic only minutes after the selection was announced. "We hoped we'd have a chance at catcher Jason Castro and he fell to us. We were excited to get a young pitcher the caliber of Ethan Martin next and I can't tell you how exciting it is to get a hitter the caliber of David Cooper into our family. This draft has exceeded our expectations so far. Now we'll get right to work getting these future Mets signed and started on their careers."

With the 34th pick in the 2008 Rule IV Draft, the Philadelphia Phillies select

Destin Hood, SS/OF, St. Paul's Episcopal Academy, Mobile, Ala

Phillies Director of Scouting, Marti Wolever

We just can't say enough about Destin - he's got electric ballplayer written all over him. He's got power in bunches, lightning speed and impressive athleticism. We're going to let his pro career start out at SS, and we may need to move him in the future, but we'll let him tell us with his play where he wants to end up. We're going to have to get on the ball working with him right away to get him out of his football scholarship to Alabama, but maybe we can work something out. Really excited to a get middle of the order impact bat like Destin with the 34th pick

A little risky with that injury, who knows how bad it can be. Although I was thinking about taking him in the 3rd round.

Jeff Brantley would frown on any team selecting a pitcher from a place called Niceville.
