    Re: Reds vs Braves 5/30/08

Nice first inning from Volquez. Who says Hairston can't field?

    Dusty on Bruce:
Baker said he's been impressed with Jay Bruce defensively, both in center and right, but sees him ultimately as a rightfielder. "That's where I feel he'll be eventually. But if you can play center, you can play all of them," Baker said. "He's handled it well. I just think with his size, he's going to get bigger and you'd like to have a burner in centerfield."

I'll tell ya what, this is going to be a tough game to win. Volquez got squeezed twice against Kelly Johnson but Glavine is already getting a huge strikezone. That second called strike on Hairston was 6-8 inches outside.

    Leaoff walk for Hairston.

Good top of the first for Volquez with 2 Ks.

I still wish the Reds had pitched Fogg tonight and Volquez tomorrow to give him an extra day of rest.

Brantley is getting carried away with Jheri. I admit he has played well so far this year. His history suggests he won't keep it up.
