Nice. If his change-up is as good as Doug says it is (and I have no reason to suspect he's wrong), then I think we can expect results like this regularly.

The transitions of he and Thompson have been something to marvel at. Hopefully Homer Bailey follows their lead.

We couldn't ask for any better out of the promotions going on in the system right now...Bruce, Thompson, Wood, Roenicke being the big ones...

Wood gives up a HR and Ks another. HRs have been his Achilles heel professionally.

Yeah, just a solo shot though, and it was Matt LaPorta that hit it. He's gone yard once or twice this season (by once or twice, I mean 15). Lookouts trail 1-0 after 4.

Meanwhile, David Welch of the Huntsville Stars is throwing a perfect game (with 5 Ks) through four. I hope I just jinxed the crap out of him.

I'd go even further and say Thompson is in AAA for the rest of the season regardless of how well he does there. He's going to be 22 for the entirety of the season. This is his first year of real sustained success. He has a history of injury problems. Thompson is exactly the type of guy you don't want to rush.

    Yep.

Welch lost his perfect game in the 6th as Valaika drew a pinch-hit walk. He still has the no-no going though as the Stars still lead 1-0 after 6.

Valaika PH for Wood in the 6th, so this is his final line. Another great outing by the youngster.

I'm hoping Sean Watson gets a chance to make his AA debut tonight.
