A majority of this board, including myself, wanted Lincecum on draft day.

Just think of the rotation right now had they taken him.

Or, there's a possibility that Hamilton never is traded with Lincecum on board. Amazing how one hesitation can effect so much.

That's why I never bring up Scherzer when discussing the poor decision of drafting Drew Stubbs. Of course I would much rather have Max Scherzer than Drew Stubbs right now, but I wasn't clamoring for it on draft day '06. However, I really wanted Lincecum and it still bothers me to this day that the Reds went anti-Moneyball and took Stubbs. (I say anti-Moneyball because they went for tools instead of production. They were looking for every little thing wrong about Lincecum, never mind his great production and live arm. On the other hand with Stubbs, they were searching for good things about him, apparently in love with his untapped tools, while completely ignoring the fact that he couldn't hit college pitching. Production matters.)

Is Drew Stubbs a bust? No.
Will Dew Stubbs be a bust? Maybe.
Was Tim Lincecum the better pick? Probably.
Will Time Lincecum have been the better pick? Maybe.

I'd go "definitely" on the last two.

While I'm not ready to write off Drew Stubbs this early, I do think it's safe to say Tim Lincecum would have clearly been the better pick. Imagine how sick the Reds rotation would be right now if they had made the obvious pick with Lincecum.
    I miss Adam Dunn.

Lincecum is on the cover of SI this week. Stubbs isn't.

One has to wonder though, if the Reds had chosen Lincecum, would he be here right now? Or would he have gotten the Homer Bailey development treatment? I think it's at least debatable that his production would be maybe a little less, seeing as the Reds really seem to struggle with correctly bringing up pitchers.
I hope it's never sunny in Philly again.

Darryl Thompson is with the Reds. Johnny Cueto is with the Reds. Edinson V is with the Reds. Lincecum would be with the Reds.

It was an interesting article discussing wear and tear on pitching arms and how Lincecum shrugs it off. It mentions how he doesn't ice his arm b/c of his "freak" physique. If he goes all Mark Prior in a year the article is going to make him look silly.

In 2003, everyone thought that the Twins made a horrible decision in drafting Joe Mauer over Mark Prior.
It takes more than two years to evaluate a draft pick.

All that proves is that something terrible is about to happen to Lincecum.:
