This game is going to be one of those perfect "winning in spite of Dusty" games. I'm honestly embarrassed to have him as our manager.
Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.

And Votto's big hit was very much matter-of-fact. I really can't take too much Grande anymore. More and more often I hit the mute button and turn on the radio. It's not a great solution but it's much more bearable.

You have to wonder if umps down the line are hesitant to ring up Philly hitters on appeal for fear of some savage Philadelphia "fan" running out of the crowd and beating them senseless.

That's almost every game, it starts when he makes out his CF/SS lineup, and ignores OBP.

Sorry, just a tough road series against a very good team.
nor should he have let Patteron hit against Romero -RHBs kill the guy

    A win!
"Since I've been with the Reds in 1989, we've never had a farm system this loaded," Bowden said. "If we were the New York Yankees and had unlimited dollars, we could have traded for Colon, (Jeff) Weaver, Rolen, (Cliff) Floyd, (Kenny) Rogers and Finley and gotten them all -- and still held onto our top five prospects. That's an amazing statement."

Dobbs is a classic early-fastball hitter -- which makes him a natural PH -- good to start his AB out with a change.

    1-2-3 9th by Cordero!

The Reds pitching staff has held the powerful Phillies to eight runs in three games.

Chance to break open a close game against a hot team and one that you desperately need to win to avoid a possible 4-game sweep on the road. Why carry three catchers on the roster then?

It probably works out but going into the ninth up 4-0 or more sure would make more sense.

    Nice easy inning for Cordero!

Great win, despite some bad managerial decisions. Volquez, Votto, Phillips, Bray, and Cordero came up huge for a collective effort.

Dobbs grounds out to short. Great pitching. They combine to 2 hit this very good Philly offense. 2-0 Reds.
