I can't wait to see Alonso signed and playing pro ball. Hopefully he begins in Sarasota but I figure he'll start in Dayton.

Ramon Ramirez goes for the Bats at 7:05 ET, Fogg goes for Sarasota at 7:00 ET(this time), and Chattanooga and Dayton are both off.

    Hopefully Fogg gets rocked.

Alonso made a diving stop on a groundball to rob Buster Posey of a basehit.

Alonso pops out in the bottom of the 3rd. Canes are up 2-1.

Pop out? That ball was a homerun if the wind isn't blowing in.

By definition, it was a pop out.

I don't know that the wind is that strong. It would've made it further for sure, but it came up quite a bit short.

I think I'd call that a fly out.

Good call, that's what I meant.

    Alonso just singled.

Alonso got ahead 3-0 in his second atbat and then took two strikes to make it 3-2. Next pitch he drilled it to deep center field but the wind knocked it down. It looked gone off the bat.

We're all just guessing, but I bet Alonso starts at Billings. You hate to tell your top Rookie team that you'll not get to see your best prospects.

Also just guessing, but I can't imagine there's any chance that he'd start in Billings. Any franchise with half a brain should do the best course of action for their $8 million man, and worry about what to tell their rookie team later.

An advanced college hitter taken in the top 10 overall selections should never start in rookie ball, unless there's some kind of dramatic position switch involved.

Didn't Frazier start in rookie ball? Granted, he wasn't the Reds top pick, but still.
