    Three Minor Leaguers Released

I haven't been as active on the forums lately, but I didn't see this posted anywhere. I saw these on Baseball America's minor league transactions page. Tom Fiebig, Justin Lehr, and Chandler Power were released. Fiebig is the Australian power reliever signed by the former Red, Luke Prokopec. Justin Lehr was actually sold to Korea, I thought; I'm not sure what's going on with that. Chandler Power, who I believe is Ted Power's son, was released after being signed not long ago.

James Morris, a DanO draft pick, has been released. His fastball showed some life, but he had arm surgery and never showed control.

Justin Lehr's age was the most likely reason he was released. He was pitching pretty well at AAA, but is in his early 30's. Another factor is that he was never able to succeed on the major league level. It seems like Jocketty is trading or selling overseas all the older starting pitchers in the system to make room for the young kids.

The weird thing about the story is that it's been published that Lehr was sold to a Korean team. How can you release a guy you traded?

I believe Lehr had a clause in his Reds contract that allowed him to leave if a Korean team offered.

It's true that he had a clause, but it still means he wasn't released.
