    PETA.... I mean really.....

They're right up there in my book with Jesse Jackson, or Al Sharpton.

Whatever happened to those PETA branches that were killing animals and dumping them in area dumpsters? Have they gone to trial yet?

Some of the best pita I ever had was in Israel a few years ago.

Bread is everywhere over there. I still remember the little old man pushing a cart down the road that was piled high with pita, bagels, and barley loaves. I think the only thing he could say in English was, "Bagel, pita, one dollar!"

Go to the source... the best pita I've had in the last decade was in Avignon.

The French do bread right that's for sure.

But they eat horsemeat... that must really piss PITA off.

Never been to France. They do know something about bread. I had some good rye bread the other day in Wisconsin.

I believe the real source would be Beirut, or Damascus. And I'm guessing PETA could get behind Pita since there is no killing of yeast involved. But I don't know much about these things.

    Re: PETA outraged at Wimbeldon

A little town just east of us called Mechanicsburg had a severe pigeon problem several years ago. And they are disease carrying birds, and their droppings, which were all over the town had caused numerous reported cases of illness (can't recall what it was).

    So the answer?

One proposal was to actually hire hunters to come in on designated days and clear them out. I thought to myself... "This can't be good. You'll have every good ol' boy deer hunter in the tri-county area applying for that job!"

    "Gonna shoot me some pigeons"

They settled on a proposal that involved hanging fake owls on the buildings. Some study showed that owls were a natural predator of pigeons. I don't know where that study came from since I don't see many pigeons out in the woods and on farms, where owls normally reside.

So anyway - they now have these fake owls all over the place, and they're now covered with pigeon crap!
