Weathers is prime deadline deal material. Just the kind of arm a contender might overpay for to get help in their pen for a push.

He walks a bit too many, but yes, he does get strikeouts (8.63 K/9) and he doesn't give up HRs (0.38 HR/9).

However, you're correct in saying he gets hit too hard. 28% LD rate against him is way too high.

He has command trouble - sometimes he throws strikes down the middle and up instead of hitting corners and keeping it down. Always has. If he ever gets his command down so he keeps the ball low he'll be consistently good. Big if, though, lots of guys you can say that about.

Bako is giving Corey a run for his money. K. If it wasn't for Paul's good April he'd be an even bigger target of ire than Corey. Certainly no more production.

Good point. At least Dusty has him buried in the 8 hole. If he was leading off every game you can bet your sweet bippy there'd be several Bako threads going on.

Bray has a .660 OPS against. That's not getting hit hard.

BTW nice job by Weathers to escape that jam and a very good start by Johnny Cueto. He's pitched great his last three starts.

Blake singles to center. He hits everyone on the Reds staff.

The defense strikes again. Blake hits a routine flyball and Patterson takes three steps back and the ball ends up dropping for a single. Should have been an easy 1-2-3 inning.

Patterson with a rare defensive miscue. I think he realized it was Inspector Gadget and knew the Reds aren't allowed to get him out.

I noticed that Casey Blake's music as he goes to the plate is "Lunatic Fringe" by Red Ryder, best known as being on the soundtrack to the movie "Vision Quest". IMO, he bears a bit of a resemblance to Matthew Modine.
