    Ice Cream or Frozen Custard?

It's summer and I'm hitting the frozen custard place (Ritter's) about 2-3 times a week.

I'm curious to know which frozen treat you fine people prefer: ice cream or frozen custard?

Personally, I prefer custard. Nice and creamy without feeling heavy. And it doesn't hurt that Ritter's is just plain awesome.

We just went to Ritters yesterday.

I don't particularly care and really can't tell the difference between ice cream or custard.

Here in Indy there have been several Ritters close.

Custard is a bad choice when the weather's hot because it has a lower melting point. I once made the mistake of getting a cone at the drive-thru on a hot day and ended up with a lap full of custard soup!

    Ice Cream. Always.

Can't beat an ice cream cone with the kids on the bench of a park while you people watch.

    Besides, custard's not very American.

    Graeter's. There's no substitute.

Frozen concoctions in the summer are always good.

We live about a mile from a Graeter's so that's our mainstay. But frozen custard is OK too. I'm fine with most anything actually. I like Frostees too.

Is Graeter's the place that uses the French-"something" style of making ice cream? I think I saw them on a Food Network show last week.

    Yep.

It is markedly better than your average ice cream.

But I still think Graeters is the best.. that's what living a 1/4 of a mile from one can do to you.

Hey, where's Ritter's at in Music City? I'm always looking for a good, icy treat for the wife and myself.

There's one in Hendersonville in a shopping center off New Shackle Island Road, just south of the Vietnam Veterans Parkway. Not sure if they have other locations around town.

Custard is ice cream's gimpy-legged cousin.

I haven't seen info on any other locations around Nashville. We've had a Maggie Moo's and a Marble Slab Creamery move in to our area but I'll stick with Ritter's.
