Bob C offered 5 M for Inoa- ORG

But Inoa decided to sign with Oakland because of their development of pitchers...

That has to snub Bob C a little bit... Depresses me because that royally sucks that that Inoa kid would rather take 750,000 less that to go work with the Reds Pitching Instructors... WOW

If that isn't saying something right there...

But it also brings up that maybe Bob C will spend in the Free Agent Market for a Pitcher like C.C. Sabethia, as mentioned in the ORG thread...

I wonder if he will truley open up his pocket book? Is C.C. the correct Pitcher to lock up? I don't know... Guy has pitched 200+ Innings only Twice in his career... Even though he has thrown 190+ Three times, and 180+ the other 2 seasons...

Cy Young Award and all... Is he worth the 18-19 Million he is going to command? Never won 20, only won 15 or more 3 times, always is around 12 WINS...

Santana signed for a Bunch last year, but I don't think this is Santana...

I'd take 190 innings from a big, durable, consistent lefty like Sabathia. He's one of the few missing pieces left, in my opinion, to a contending club. Put him in with Volquez, Harang, Cueto and Daryl Thompson and the Reds are on to something.

Is he worth the money he'll be asking? Perhaps not. But he's better than all the alternatives (even Ben Sheets, only because Sheets can never stay healthy).

I would have like the Reds to get Inoa. If they had signed him to the contract offered, you would have the potential of some serious young latin talent coming through the system in a few years. If you can mix some great young talent in 3 -4 years with the development of Cueto, Volquez, Bruce, and Encarnacion then this team could be in a great place. The Reds still signed two big time latin players this year, and drafted a very good hitter out of Miami. The future could be bright, but you never know with prospects.

CC would be a great addition to any team but middle-market clubs shouldn't give $100 Million contracts to anyone, especially pitchers.

From what I understand, Sabathia has a pretty bad flyball ratio. Not good news for GABP.

I'm glad the club did all they could to bring in Inoa. Maybe with his decision, they will decide to re-evaluate their minor league development staff.

I'm impressed that Reds were in the final two contenders. That says alot about their commitment to get and develop talent.

I also believe Oakland's reputation of developing pitchers is overrated. Once their pitchers leave Oakland, they all tend to fail and become average or worse.

I'd love to have Sabathia. Sign the best pitchers and hopefully our minor leagues will continue to improve and produce our position players.

McCoy was on the radio the other night and claimed the Yankees were prepared to offer 120 million over 6 years for CC. I don't know if Bob C can compete with that type of money.

Tim Hudson and Dan Haren say hello.

Zito lost a lot on his fastball - not an indictment against Oakland. Mark Mulder has been OK for the Cardinals when he's healthy, but he's just never healthy.

I can't argue against Inoa's logic. Oakland, in my opinion, has been tremendous in developing pitching with a high level of success. And even if some of those guys have failed after leaving Oakland, they've done so with big contracts extending into their 30's.
