    Reds need more wins

If the Reds want to make the playoffs, more than anything, they need more wins.

    Look at the stats.

    The Reds need more wins.

Bah. They can easily compensate for the lack of wins by avoiding losses.

or even by causing the other teams to have more losses...

We're going to have to agree to disagree. I think wins are very overrated, its all about how a guy plays the game and how the lineup is constructed. The Reds can lose a game but as long as Norris Hopper runs out a groundout, its a good day.

wins is such a team dependent stat. I'm going to need to see more related to the topic at hand.

I agree. Wins are hard to decipher because they are team dependent and teammates have so much influence on whether or not a guy plays on a winning team. There should be a formula to determine how many losses a guy avoids without the team influence.:

Clearly they suffer from a lack of two things:
    1.) Wanting to win
    2.) Chemistry

Various members of the media told me so.

Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.

Another impressive stat I just found.

Reds winning percentage when leading after nine innings.

    1.000
Now I don't care what anybody says. That's an impressive stat. If they could just get through nine innings with the lead, they would win more games.

    Re: Reds need more wins

I think people focus entirely too much on wins. What the Reds really need is a better batting average.

I would gladly trade some wins for some extra hits w/RISP.
