    Wayne Krivsky Transactions

Well, as we all know, Wayne is out the door. I've kept track of all his transactions since he took over as GM. I just thought some people might like to look them over.

A hyphen (-) by the name means the player is no longer in the organization. I'm not sure where the three players at the bottom of the list are. I think they've been released and it just hasn't been noted anywhere on the internet.

If anyone has additions or corrections, I'd appreciate it.

I am too with the correct working qualifiers and classifications.

    1. Against the similiar market size - demorgrahpics of the city and surrounding area.

2.Within the same payroll budget range of 5 millions dollars. 79 mil-74mil-69mil

    3. Within the same investor criteria for their invesment portfolio regarding the specific franchise holdings. (how they directed their funds and assets were to be utilized or disbursed.)
Since general managers are their agents, and must act under prudent man theory, on the investors behalf.

While I know what you are getting at (and there is some validity), I think you are overthinking things.

    some validity ?

I made sure I wrote those words, from finance and accounting correctly as is traditionaly accepted standards, norms, and practices, in the business world within the capitalistic market system, there is much validity.

Cincy's demographics didn't make him draft Stubbs over Scherzer or Lincecum.

I doubt the "investor criteria for their invesment portfolio regarding the specific franchise holdings" included blue chip stocks such as Mike Stanton, Corey Patterson and Joe Mays.

Again, some validity, but not word for word.

To make a list of Walt Jocketty transactions, one could do that in about 2 seconds.

    Re: Wayne Krivsky Transactions

One thing about WK's reputation...some of his backers tend to throw sample size out the window on a few of his moves. Guys like Arroyo, Keppinger and D Ross helped Wayne to earn his reputation of picking diamonds out of the rough. But after it plays out, they end up losing a little of their luster.

Bottom line is he hit a few HRs in his tenure, but he picked a bunch of losers as well. I would love to have him in the scouting and development department. But not as a GM.

that's every GM in the history of the game. the luster is decided by the quality of those diamonds, not by the amount of mining.

But you'd have to make the determination if the method of finding those diamonds will likely yield additional diamonds in the future.

Based upon certain circumstances, I think that Wayne was more lucky than good. He had open roster slots and some former top tier prospects were available for a song. He gets credit for making the moves, no doubt. But I don't think that opportunities like that happen too often. And I would be willing to bet that it would be a long time before he found another Hamilton or Phillips. So I would be more interested in the other areas of his game which, IMO, left a bit to be desired.

Let him function in a scouting capacity. Let someone else construct a roster. That was his downfall.

Exactly, stumbling across a big diamond in a field doesn't make me qualified for leading the next expedition.

Results count. But in assessing what sorts of results you're likely to go in the future, past process is a better predictor than past results.
Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.

But we'll never know. If he has a system, should he share it? I wouldn't.

Sure, but you also have to look at the lumps of coal.. moves that set the team back by wasting money and tying up roster spots.

I don't mind 1 year rolls of the dice with guys like Patterson and Joe Mays as much as the Stanton and AGon type signings...

A lot of Wayne's moves on that list were pretty much inconsequential, as are many moves of a lot of GMs...

But that's an impressive bit of work.. That must've taken a long time to compile. This will be a good post to save for reference.
Thank you Walt and Bob for going for it in 2010-2014!

Board Moderators may, at their discretion and judgment, delete and/or edit any messages that violate any of the following guidelines: 1. Explicit references to alleged illegal or unlawful acts. 2. Graphic sexual descriptions. 3. Racial or ethnic slurs. 4. Use of edgy language (including masked profanity). 5. Direct personal attacks, flames, fights, trolling, baiting, name-calling, general nuisance, excessive player criticism or anything along those lines. 6. Posting spam. 7. Each person may have only one user account. It is fine to be critical here - that's what this board is for. But let's not beat a subject or a player to death, please.

Thank you, and most importantly, enjoy yourselves!
