What a shame. Wanted to see a perfecto.
It's absolutely pathetic that people can't have an opinion from actually watching games and supplementing that with stats. If you voice an opinion that doesn't fit into a black/white box you will get completely misrepresented and basically called a tobacco chewing traditionalist...

Kuroda ended up with a one hitter, with no walks. He faced only 28 batters, and threw only 91 pitches to win this one 3-0. Nice game!

Good return from the DL. Was hoping he would get it. Still nothing to be ashamed of, 1 hitter.

And Fukudome is playing well for the Cubs. Yet the Reds show zero interest in Japanese players.

Is it that, or are Japanese players showing zero interest in the Reds?

Maybe that's because they're showing a great interest in Latin American players.

There is no team in baseball who is able to spend the time, money and effort to be players in every single market. You pick your battles based on a lot of factors, including the experience and expertise of your employees. Buckley and Arias have a ton of experience and connections in Latin America. Hence, that's where the focus has been.

That's not even addressing the fact that smaller market midwestern cities haven't attracted many Asian players to begin with.

Japanese players tend to be pretty expensive because the talent pool is much smaller than, say, Latin America; only the very best players come over to the US. While a Fukudome or Matsuzaka would be great to have, they are essentially very expensive free agents to the Reds.
