I don't think people realize that Edwin is still young (25 or 26). He still has great potential, and we have already seen his improvements with the glove. I think once he can recharge at the all-star break, and be at 100% strength, we will see a more dynamic offensive 3rd baseman
You could get more in return for EE in a trade than you could for Dunn. So, if you're looking at it that way, then you're selling Edwin while he's still on the upswing of his career.
