    Rate this offer please

    Team A gets:

    CC Sabathia
    Gavin Floyd
    Casey Blake
    David Ortiz

    Team B:
    Alex Rodriguez
    Joe Saunders
    Nate McClouth
    Aaron Cook

Is it highly unbalanced? Is it chop suey for prime rib? Is it in the ball park of fair?

    Let's split it up:

The prime swap here is obviously Sabathia for Rodriguez. Is that trade fair? I would say not at all. While Sabathia is an ace pitcher transitioning to easier competittion in the National League, Rodriguez is the best player in all of baseball, in terms of fantasy or otherwise. Aside from Hanley Ramirez, I'm not sure if I would do a one-to-one swap involving A-Rod for anyone.

The other players that Team A are getting (Ortiz, Blake, and Gavin Floyd) are a mixed bag. While Ortiz, obviously, has the potential to be an fantastic player for any fantasy team, there are many questions about his health. He was wildly inconsistent during the first half, and problems with his wrist could severely limit his power during the second half. Casey Blake is a complete throwaway, and I wouldn't consider him a prime fantasy player by any stretch. Gavin Floyd has shown flashes of brilliance, and could be a worthwhile pitcher in any fantasy rotation.

After Alex Rodriguez, team B is getting some excellent players. McClouth is an All Star CF, and has showed no signs of slowing down. Aaron Cook and Joe Saunders, while they are surprises, have also had excellent seasons. I have no reason to think that their success won't continue.

I would say that team B wins this deal by a fair margin. If Ortiz comes back and has an excellent half, then the trade is more fair than it stands now.

I'd say that's a pretty good looking deal for Team B
