Zach Cozart hit by a pitch in the shoulder. Trainers out looking at him now. Staying in for now.
Soto drills one to a diving stop down the line by the third baseman, who threw it to second where they missed the bag but got Soto at first.
It sounds like even Soto's outs are always rockets.
Dayton's announcer "Soto has an OPS over 1.000. OPS is a stat that stat guys are using a lot these days, but I think its pretty overrated. Sometimes it can tell you how good a player is."
Kyle Lotzkar - First Inning - Dayton Dragons
1. Ball 1. Outside, ball 2. Ball 3 inside. Strike 1 looking. Strike 2 on the corner. Fastball outside.
2. Flyout to Reed in centerfield. 1 out.
3. Low. Steal on the pitch which was a ball. Strike looking. Line drive single, runners on the corners.
4. Inside and low. Lotzkar is having trouble throwing strikes. Foul ball. Groundball to Cozart who flips to Cabrera who throws it off the bag at first. Should have been a double play, instead its a run scoring fielders choice.
5. Stolen base on a strike. Foul. Outside. Swing and a miss.
Lotzkar better get used to having awful defense behind him.
Not sure where Livingston fits in, but I think he might be earning himself a look in Cincy...I liked him last year and hope tht he gets back up here...
The lookouts went 1-2-3 in the first inning...
James Avery allows three runs (two earned) in the first inning. Chattanooga trails 3-0 after one inning.
Angel Cabrera doubles in a run but is thrown out trying to stretch it into a triple. Dayton is tied 1-1 heading to the second.
Between Homer, Fogg, and Arroyo, at least one of those spots is sure to open up in the next few weeks. At the very least, Livingston should get a call-up and audition come September. I expect him to be in competition with Bailey, Thompson, and Maloney for the #5 spot next year. LeCure and/or Jukich could be in that mix as well.
Go BLUE!!!
Ryan Hanigan just gunned down a runner trying to steal 2nd in the AAA All-Star game as the announces rave about his arm.
Kyle Lotzkar - Second Inning - Dayton Dragons
1. Ball 1 inside. Strike on the outside corner. Strike two. Single up the middle.
2. Low ball 1. Ball 2 low. Fastball swinging. Strike 2. Strike 3 on a curveball.
3. Ball 1 outside. Grounder to Lotzkar, but the runner was going. Gets the out at first. Scratch that, catchers interference called. Safe at first and second.
4. Lotzkar hits the next batter with a curve to load the bases.
5. Foul ball. Foul, strike 2. Lined to right to score 1. Bases still loaded.
6. Fly out to Reed, sac fly. 3-1 Dayton trailing.
7. Double steal on ball 1. Foul. Foul. Swinging strike.
2 unearned runs that inning.
