Isn't there anybody on the team more deserving of at-bats than Patterson?

Isn't there someone who could play Left Field while Dickerson is in Center instead of wasting at-bats on Patterson?

Dusty's manlove for Patterson is way beyond normal understanding.

Patterson better be jettisoned come September 1st.

Some Minor Leaguer better get those at-bats.

C'mon, Walt....do your job and get rid of the guy already.

He's on the major league roster already and his name is Adam Rosales.

He's 25 and a career .280/.357/.474 minor league hitter. His major league future is in the infield, if anywhere, but he absolutely could use the plate appearances and is athletic enough to handle LF without embarrassing himself.
Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.

    He smiles too much though.

It is all part of a nefarious plot to get the term "Mendoza Line" modified to "Mendozerson Line"

In May through July, Corey Patterson went 20-124 (.161) with two doubles and two HR. He also racked up ZERO walks and struck out 21 times. OBP = .161, SLG = .202. The result? 68 ABs thus far in August, a substantial increase in playing time.

I believe they said on TV a few nights ago that he had been picked off base 9 times this year. Given the number of times he's actually gotten on, that's mind-boggling.

He has only been on base 84 times this year.... so literally one out of 9 times he gets on, he gets picked off. That is nuts.

I no longer have a full baseball-reference PI subscription, but, amongst outfielders with at least 295 plate appearances (Corey's total going into today's), there have been fewer than 10 that have put up an OPS+ of 46 or less, in the ENTIRE HISTORY of professional baseball. We're seeing history being made here! If Corey can keep that sweet 46 OPS+ through the rest of the season, he could be 1 of only 2 outfielders to be that bad in over 375 plate appearances!

I have never heard of a worse person getting playing time in my life. Dusty should be tarred and feathered for playing him.

    C'mon, Walt. Cut the ties.

yea but he really has not done it before and do we need to make a bad defense worse by putting a guy out there with little experience especially with the young arms needing some protection. Not saying i am pro Cpatt, I am most certainly not but I would prefer to see someone with OF experience in there.
