    Jeffords finished going 3.1 innings with 4H, 7k's 1BB and 0R...

Dayton is going to the 11th inning still tied at 1...

Soto and Mes both had singles in the 10th but they couldn't get a run across...

    Shunick ended up going 5IP 5H, 4ER, 5K...

It seems to always be that one inning with Shunick...

He gave up 4 hits and 4R in one inning tonight...The other 4 he gave up 1 hit and had 3k's...

    Stubbs has a BIG night 2-2, 3 RBI's, 3 BB's;

Maybe the FSL was holding him back a lot more than even Doug believed.

Man the Lookouts really exploded in the 9th inning...They really have a good lineup right now...

Stubbs has 8 hits and 6 walks in 5 games...14 times reaching base in 5 games is pretty good...

    Valaika is hot as well...

Henry has 17 hits in his last 11 games and 3 HRs at the top of the lineup...

Lets not forget Turner who has 18 hits in his last 11 games...batting a cool .400 in his last 10 before tonight...He also has 5 walks and 2 HR in that stretch...He has a 12 game hitting streak going to go along with Valaika's 15 gamer...

Then you have Dorn who is hitting bombs left and right...

Lutz didn't have a good outing in the 9th tho...

Soto and Waring had back to back singles in the 12th and Phipps grounded into a DP to end the threat...

Soto is now 2-5 on the night...

    Onto the 13th...

I've mentioned before that I thought Stubbs should have been pushed harder than he was. He seemed to have that mix of a high ceiling/raw swing that was just good enough to not get dominated anywhere, but not good enough to dominate himself at any level. With his known speed/defense mix I hope I'm right. If this small sample for the Lookouts continues we might be seeing a nice change in his overall value.
This is the time. The real Reds organization is back.

I agree, before the season I was calling for him to skip Sarasota all together (age/level being a big issue). I figured the FSL wouldn't help his development much but could certainly hurt his value at the very least. Right now we could have been talking about him getting acclimated at the AAA level. His value would likely have been much higher at this point at the very least. Granted it's early yet but I still don't feel there's as much difference between A+ and AA as there is AA to AAA. I think he will do fine here the big difference will be that next jump IMO and the sooner he made it there the better.

I think it's great that everyone is excited about Drew Stubbs' performance in his 10 ABs so far at the AA level. However, before we dismiss his poor stats at Sarasota this year, how do you explain his weak stats at Dayton last year?

Honestly, I am optimistic about what Stubbs has done since getting promoted to AA. But come on, I am not ready to forget about how mediocre he has been overall as a pro player. Hopefully this is the start of something new. I would LOVE for the Reds to have a good RHH OF.

I would love for Stubbs to have a breakout 2nd half. Having a guy who could be full time CF for 2010 would be a huge boon. I'm certainly not holding my breath for Stubbs, but I'll certainly keep my fingers crossed.
Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.

Stubbs was playing with turf toe last year in Dayton. He had surgery this offseason to repair it. You can really see the difference in the stolen bases/caught stealing columns.

I'm not dismissing them nor am I advocating he's the next coming based on an extremely small sample size. If that's what you got out of my post I didn't convey my message correctly.

I have yet to hear whether or not Stubbs has kept up his choking up on the bat which would tell me alot one way or the other. If he has then I am not all that impressed although I still have some hope his power will improve enough to make him a passable CF. If he hasn't continued to choke up then I think he can improve his contact by doing so, but question his reasoning for not doing so. Makes you wonder things either way. But all I'm saying is that I haven't fell off or jump on the bandwagon just yet, I'm straddling the tailgate which is falling off slowly from where I once was.
