Weeks has had a really rough season, hitting .218/.322/.367. Durham has been a solid .293/.385/.414. Assuming the Brewers didn't give up more than a B prospect, that's a solid move for a team making a run.
Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.
On paper do the Brewers have the best team in baseball with that move? Imagine them in a short series. Terrifying!

The Reds FO has a difficult task. The availables - Freel, Gonzalez, Dunn, Griffey, Patterson, Weathers, Affeldt, Bako, Valentin, Ross, Hopper, A. Phillips, Hairston, Lincoln, Coffey, Belisle - aren't wanted by much of anyone.
DL guys - Freel, Gonzalez, Hopper, Hairston
Bad contracts - Patterson, Ross
Too old - Griffey
Bad rap - Dunn.
Just bad - Bako, Valentin, Coffey, Belisle
That leaves you with Weathers, Affeldt, A. Phillips, and Lincoln to trade. I could see offers for Weathers and Affeldt (like in us giving them away), and Lincoln might fetch a prospect (but I doubt it). The Reds will either have to play the kids or buy players. And it's not the time for that.

This is a nice analysis WV, but I think Adam Dunn has some serious value right now. Maybe he is just fools gold, but if Ray Durham has value Dunn does.
He has been hot right now and as much as I am not a real Dunn fan, some team must believe he could help them make the playoffs. I still want Matt Kemp from the Dodgers......and I believe Dunn would improve their offense.
I keep wondering, if many on this board feel the Reds are not ready to win, what can we discuss what it will take? Are they a player or two way or half a roster?
I believe (and many, maybe most,will disagree with me) nearly a complete overhaul. I think Votto and Phillips are set at first and second. We desparately need a shortstop and I am in the minority in thinking that Encarnacion will never be the answer at third base. Sorry. We need a corner outfielder and a center fielder pronto. Catching is tough, but I'd rather have a young propect who can throw and catch back there than the current bunch. That's a big order.
Starting pitching is fairly good if Harang recovers and Arroyo continues to pitch well. Cueto and Volquez have the potential to be really good. Though Fogg will be gone nextyear, I think between Bailey and Thompson we can find a fifth starter. Picking the right bullpen arms is something that can be done on the cheap and I think that will be OK. The bench we now have is pitiful with the exception of Hairston and who knows how long he will last? I still feel his injury is more serious than they are saying.
A good start would be to find someone to take Ross, Valentin, Bako, Hopper, and Freel and use kids to play. Then listen to offers for Encarnacion, Gonzalez, Dunn, and Griffey and take what you can get. This team needs a complete new attitude and this is the only way I see that happening. I'd hate to see Dunn go, but I don't think we can afford him anymore.

Every report indicates the exact opposite -- that the Reds are trying to move Dunn and finding nobody even nibbling on the other end.

Considering the minimal return the Giants got for Ray Durham, it appears he actually had little to no value.
I wouldn't trade our three catchers until I had someone to replace them. There is no one in the system to replace them.
EE is rated #7 in the Major Leagues in thirdbase OPS.
I think you undervalue EE in the extreme. You can dump him for what "we can get", but your chances of stumbling into someone batter is remote.
