Great work versus Giles on that AB by Homer, despite getting squeezed out of a Strike 3 earlier in the count. Then retiring Gonzalez on 3 pitches... he's doing a good job of spotting pitches, working both sides of the plate, changing speeds, and has some pretty good movement. The kid is pitching a fine game.

Bailey fans Gonzalez. That's just about the best pitching from Bailey I've seen. Two very tough lefty batters with the bases loaded.

    Progress.

Great pitch by Homer to get Gonzalez. He's not making mistakes over the plate and his fastball actually has some movement -- good to see.
Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.

The kids starting to get it. I know a lot of us, myself included, wanted him to be the man immediately, but he's figuring it out. There will be more bumps, but he's got the makings of a big leaguer inside him.

Championships for MY teams in my lifetime:

    Chicago Blackhawks - 10, 13, 15
    University of Kentucky - 78, 96, 98, 12
    Chicago Bulls - 91, 92, 93, 96, 97, 98

Impressive to do that to Giles and Gonzo with the sack full, and pushing th 80 pitch count. Hopefully another milestone evening for Homer.

not sure what that pitch was that K'd Gonzalez -- maybe a cutter? -- very fine spot, in under his hands

Dunn has had a steady series of nice AB's against very tough pitchers.

Sure does, with some late bite to both his fastball, and offspeed offerings, helping his cause in the groundball department.

The Reds are brutal on the basepaths. Just brutal.
