    Shark Week 2008

Just thought I would give everyone the heads up that the best week of the year is here, Shark Week!

How many other sharkaholics are there?

I saw a Hammerhead at North Myrtle Beach the other day. It swam where I was standing 15 seconds earlier.

It's been a sharky summer along the grand strand with lots of reports of bites. All have been small sharks just lashing out at a moving leg- stitches kind of stuff. Mostly those little brown ones- sand sharks, maybe?
Anyway, anglers tend to catch hammer heads when fishing on the shore in that area. Little ones- 15 or so inches.

Sharks are cool, as long as they are in an aquarium, or they're in open water where I'm not...

This thing was a 4 footer. I was out in the water trying to catch tons of minnows that were running from 10 inch fish. I sure picked a nice time to start walking in..10 seconds later I hear someone yell shark and I turn around and the Hammerhead was chasing down the 10 inch fish.

I've gone to Myrtle Beach every year since i've been born (1990) and it's the second shark we've seen in our swimming area. I blame Shark Week.

My view on sharks is they're welcome to do their thing in international waters, but when they swim up the coastal areas where we humans like to swim, then it should be open season on them.
