Sunday July 27th minor league updates

I just got back from Myrtle Beach.

Sarasota, DSL Reds, and the GCL Reds are all off today. Everyone else plays later.
    I miss Adam Dunn.

Justin Ruggino homered off JUstin Mallett in the 1st. Durham still batting.

Dan Johnson followed with a HR. 2-0 Durham in the second.

Louisville down 2-0 going to top 8. Pelland struck out the side in bottom 7.

Bottom of the 7th and it is still 2 zip Durham. Mallett went six and now Pelland is pitching in the 7th. Pelland has struck out the first two hitters he has faced. Reds' offensive woes are apparently contagious. Louisville has just 3 hits through 7 innings. A double by Dickerson and singles by Rosales and Cumberland are the extent of the Bats' offense so far.

Pelland now has 51 K's in 43 innings and his ERA is down to 3.98 after some early season struggles. He's already on the 40-man roster so we may see him in Cincy in September.

Dayton trails 4-0 after one inning with Daniel Guerrero on the mound.

Pelland ended up striking out 3 in the 7th. Belisle came on and fanned 2 in the 8th. Louisville managed one single in the final two frames and wound up on the short end of a -0 whitewash versus Durham.

Chattanooga game seems to be delayed. (At the very least there has been nothing updated at MILB.com) Travis Wood scheduled to take the mound for the Lookouts.

Stubbs batting in the 7 spot.

The Dragons trail 6-2 after 3 innings. Guerrero had a short night giving up 6 earned in an 1 2/3 innings. Rich Rhoden's kid has come on and struck out 2 of the 4 batters he has faced. Mesoraco has gone yard for the 7th time this season. Not bad for a pudgy catcher. Waring has tripled and scored.

Dayton down 6-2. Mesoraco has a homer, his 7th. .740 OPS going into the game. Starting to look very solid for a MWL kid one year out of HS.

Yeah, its really tough on high school kids to be in that league a year removed from being drafted.

Doug, not sure if you are saying that sarcastically or not but living in Burlington and watching tons of Midwest League Baseball. How does it compare to the other leagues, some are known as pitchers leagues, some are hitters. What would you classify the MWL as? Thanks in advance.

Mesoraco is now 2-for-2 with the solo homerun.

Soto is 0-for-2 as he's been slumping a bit lately.

At least the three guys who matter even a little got the hits.
