Junior to Wear # 30, Swisher gives it up for # 1.

From the Chicago White Sox mlb page. Swisher gives up 30 for Griffey and takes uniform # 1. That's pretty classy, that's a former Buckeye for you.

I wonder why no #24? Is it retired by the Sox?

This may be why he didn't get #24....

    or what about 3?!

btw what griffey did in wanting to wear #42 on jackie robinson day, shaped the way people remember players more than most will think it did.. his prolonged love for history in the game.. not only lead to that.. but to things like all wearing nuxhalls number before opening day.. and teams around the league doing things like that.. before griff wanted to to that in memory of JR.. it wasnt seen on a wide scale like it is now..

Classy and Buckeye...two words that just don't go together very often.

No problem. I didn't see any reason for the number on the 25 man roster so I went to the 40 man roster instead. I had totally forgotten Crede all ready had #24! I don't follow the WSox that often but I did remember Crede was with them....well, eventually I remembered that fact, LOL

Classy move there by Swisher. Griffey would have looked weird wearing 17. I took me forever to get used to him wearing 30 as a red then he switched to 3 and it was even weirder.

Junior is wearing #17, but just for tonight. Starting tomorrow, Swisher switches to #1 and Junior gets #30. No word of what becomes of 17. Griff's hitting 7th tonight, btw.
