Who should be promoted? It's Brandon Waring in a landslide.

Of all the players above the Rookie Leagues, Dayton's Brandon Waring has by far the highest BAbip (.382) of players with at least 150 AB's at a particular level without being promoted.

There's been a lot of talk about who should move up and who shouldn't, but Waring is the player that deserves it the most.

Anyone else in the organization that has had a .342 BAbip (40 points less) in the last 2 years with at least 150 at-bats has been promoted. Waring has maintained this level for 327 at-bats!, twice the number that anyone else has maintained this high level of BAbip performance who got promoted.

    Apparently, he's stuck at 3B behind Sarasota's Juan Francisco, who's maintained a BAbip of .325 over 418 AB's without a promotion.

Francisco is behind Chatanooga Third Basemen Eric Eymann 352 AB's (.333 BAbip) and Michael Griffin 142 AB's (.317 BAbip).

    BAbip's of .325 (Francisco), Eymann (.333), and Griffin (.317) don't demand a promotion.

But, looking at the outfielders who were spoke about on this thread, Daniel Dorn's .294 BAbip doesn't deserve a promotion surely, where Sean Henry's .359 BAbip certainly does warrant a promotion.

The problem with Waring and Francisco isn't the BABIP, it is all the balls they don't put in play. They strike out way to much.

A high BABIP might only mean that you're currently getting lucky. It's not necessarily a measure of hitting quality.
    I'm not a system player. I am a system.

Yeah, I wouldn't automatically look at high BABIP as an indicator of mashing success; that can be quite a bit misleading.
