Normally, I really look forward to it, but with all the pre-Olympic publicity about smog and the lack of openness of the Chinese government, I am not nearly as into it as I have been in the past.

That'll probably wear off- to me even a smattering of the Olympic spirit takes me back to my youth when I entertained hopes of one day becoming an Olympic swimmer. Of course, I didn't know back then that I was probably ranked about 42,456,888th in the 8 and under 50 meter freestyle, but that's why the Olympics are important. They engage the dreams of the world youth.

Favorite events: Swimming, swimming, swimming, swimming and swimming.

Trampoline is now an Olympic sport. That actually might be entertaining. Team synchronized Bungee jumping can't be far behind.

I almost wish it was winter right now. I'm sitting in your hometown at the moment, at my wife's uncle's house near NASA, and their air conditioning isn't working right. It's over 80 inside their apartment and I finally came out to sit in my van with the engine running for a little while just to cool off. What is the temp outside in Houston today, about 285?

All kidding aside, I usually enjoy the olympics, especially the less covered events like water polo. I like to see sports I usually don't get to see during other times during the year.

Track and swimming are my two favorites, but I really dig some of the out-of-the-spotlight events like wrestling, weight lifting, badminton, cycling, volleyball (indoor and beach), rowing and water polo.

My hope is the games are great and the Chinese government winds up with egg all over its face.

Me too. But I have the feeling that we're looking at another Berlin 1936, in that the Games will be great and the egg will come later.

I've always enjoyed team handball and wish they'd show more of it.

If this were the Winter Games this would be an easy question. My hands-down favorite winter sport is curling. I love me some curling action.

Curling is the only sport in which one team truly does 'sweep' the opposing side. :
