    Re: skip caray

A very sad day for me. He represented the golden age of baseball on basic cable. 15 years ago when I was 7 I had the braves on TBS, the Cubs on WGN, the Reds on a local network and a game on ESPN to choose from virtually every night. Now TBS and WGN rarely show games, ESPN only shows Sox and Yanks and the Reds suck.

To me his distinctive voice represents that golden age more then any other broadcaster.

He was the voice of the Braves on TV....Back in the day, it was only Braves games on TV on a regular basis if you didn't have a local team....R.I.P Skip

If im not mistaken, Skip Carey was Harry Carey's son. Now that i look at your post again, you might already know that. Tough tough loss for the baseball and atlanta braves family. Always listen to him whenever I get down to the ted with his son doing the pre and post game shows on atlanta braves radio. Great broadcast and class act of an organizaiton.

I concur with Neil Hamburger (shudder...), Skip was one of the voices of baseball during my youth...
