It seems reasonable that they'd want to see how Roenicke fares against lefties, and to get him work in that area. If he's going to be more than a 1-batter specialist for the Reds, he'll need to be proficient in that way. I suspect that minor-league managers make a lot of moves that aren't viable in the context of winning the game but are rather designed to develop the player.

Anderson is 5-5. Looks have pounded out 20 hits so far.

I was looking at the GCL roster and noticed that Shea Snowden is currently suspended. Anyone know anything. Hopefully it's just a few games suspension because of behavior and not substance or PED related.

Roenicke has showed he can handle lefties but I was a bit surprised to see him not go the traditional way and bring in the lefty.

I think perhaps he MIGHT be figuring out AA pitchers. they sure had his number for 3 weeks.

Honestly doug, EVERYONE on this board hopes you are right about Stubbs. The data says you are wrong, but we all hope otherwise.

That said, he's finally bumped his OPS after his first AA game over .700, and he's had a nice run over the last 4-5 games. Progress I suppose.

But he's hardly the .900+ OPS beast you were predicting when he was in Billings. Right now while everyone seems to want his comp to be Mike Cameron, I see his comp as Chris Dickerson. Very similar players. Plus defense, Stubbs has the better OBP, Dickerson more power. Both will likely not see the major leagues for any extended time until age 26-27. That may not be the worst thing in the world, but in Stubbs' case it is due to his draft slot.

in a smart organization, what you say is true. but that's not what I usually observe. I often see guys that are in the minors because they struggle against lefties put on the bench against lefties.

the flip side to all of this is that Herrera did well. It's tough for managers to give chances to young pitchers that don't throw hard, but Herrera looks like a good one. Reds could use a lefty

No data says I am wrong. If he keeps doing what he has been doing all year long, he will be fine in the majors. Thats what I have said all year and I will continue to say it, because its right. I think its a bit crazy to suggest that Stubbs won't see the majors for an extended period of time for 3-4 more years when he is currently sitting in AA.

We are again seeing some slight improvement to Drews game. Its early, but again he has a lower strikeout rate through 87 PA in AA than he had in A+. His walk rate is down though, but his hit rate is up. I will always make that trade off.

So long as he continues what he is doing, he will be fine. If he continues making improvements, fantastic, because he will be even better.

What are the odds of this turning into a 5+ page thread?

do you think Stubbs, unless he completely falls apart, starts next year at LOU?

That depends on where Dickerson starts the season at.

Not too sure really. I think that is more an issue of how he does in spring training honestly.

doug, he didn't improve his game at Sarasota, it got progressively worse. His play didn't warrant promotion. his draft slot got him that promotion.

Thats a silly notion. Strikeout rate dropped from the level before, walk rate went up from the level before and his line drive rate went up from the level before. Thats improvement if I have ever seen it. And an injury actually got him the promotion.
