Be on the lookout for "illegally obtained" Diamond Club ducats

Reds lose 8-1, and ticket office warns fans to be on the lookout for "illegally obtained" Diamond Club ducats
Posted by johnerardi at 8/5/2008 10:35 PM EDT on Cincinnati.com

The Reds were beaten by the Brewers 8-1 before 24,739 fans Tuesday night at Great American Ball Park.

After the game, the club reported that approximately 400 Diamond Club tickets for games at Great American have been “illegally obtained” from the Reds, and are being “promoted and resold” through unauthorized web sites and third-party listings.

The Diamond Club is the swank locale on field level behind home plate that comes with a great view and an equally scrumptious buffet. They also come with free parking and in-seat service. This is where the high rollers sit.

The Reds said that only resold Diamond Club tickets using “print-at-home delivery” are affected. Fans who purchased resold tickets to the Diamond Club are advised to contact their source of purchase, “because these resold tickets will not be honored for admission to games” at Great American Ball Park.

The ballclub announced that it has turned the investigation over to law enforcement officials, and that the club will “continue to cooperate” in the investigation.

Online ticket purchases made via Reds.com or StubHub (CQ) are not affected. The Reds encouraged their fans to continue to use these “authorized means of purchasing tickets online,” but noted that the club has “temporarily disabled” the print-at-home option. Tickets purchased online can be picked up at the Reds’ ticket kiosks or can be mailed to the purchasers.

Fans with questions about the validity of ticket purchases an contact the Reds ticket offices at (513) 765-7400.

Okay, what if you didn't buy them but were given them? How do they prove it?

I think this is ridiculous, because I have been to one game in Diamond seats this year, and one of my customers is tired of going to games and has offered me several of his remaining seats. I think this is bogus.

What in the world makes you think it is bogus? You're acting awfully defensive about the whole thing. :

I heard there is a group of guys also selling tickets to a stadium, claiming they play baseball in there, selling tix to sucker fans who come to see this "team", but usually walk away wondering "who are these guys the Nationals (worst team in baseball) just embarrassed???"

its all a sham.. i literally mailed back my tickets to the front office.. i'll eat the money for the games i had tickets for, to tell them i am upset with this team.. Especially since after each game i will have spent more on soda and hot dogs and have spent my time there..
