    Daniel Guererro at Dayton...

He's been struggling as a starting pitcher there.

He struggled mightily at Sarasota for 13 starts (7.48 ERA) and since being demoted to Dayton he's struggled even worse in 7 starts (10.20 ERA). It says his birthday is 7/21/85, but who knows if that's true. The REDS got him as an undrafted Free Agent in 2005. He was born in Mexico.

In 18 starts at Dayton last year he had an ERA of 4.00.

Most players don't make it. It looks like he's hitting his wall.

Dayton's in the middle of a pennant race and was 2 games out going into tonight. He's pitching the poorest on the team. In his last 3 starts he's yielded 7, 9, and 6 earned runs. With so little time left in the season, they'll leave him there and see what happens. He pitched in the Mexican League last winter. Maybe he needs to shut it down for a Winter.

Yeah, I've been wondering about him all year. He has a 2.96 K/BB ratio, and he Ks 6.87 hitters per nine innings. His peripherals aren't bad at all, so it sounds like he might just be a classic case of 'wild in the zone' combined with not having stellar stuff.

He has a 10.20 ERA. He has allowed 22 runs in his last 8.2 innings. If he gets another start, what does that say about the level of talent in the lower part of the Reds farm system? Does the farm director not have some responsibility to 24 other players who have busted their butts all year and are now trying to nail down a playoff spot? How can you possibly not have someone at Billings who is better than this? If he makes his next start, it has to raise some serious questions.

All good points. Sometimes these minor league teams make sacrifices they shouldn't have to make. There's no indication that any of his starts will be decent the remainder of the year. But, it's the minors and anything can happen.

So, what does he do in his next start in Tuesday Night? 5IP, 0ER, 1BB, 3K, Win.
