There's got to be something wrong. It's hard to believe that he was so good over the last couple of years and he suddenly has lost it. Brantly was saying his fastball was in the mid 80's and thats not right. I think I would shut him down and start over for next year.

Shut him down now. Nothing to gain by running him back out there. Cross our fingers for next year. I wonder if he is hurt and if so do the Reds have insurance for this type of thing.

Shut him down and send him to EVERY arm doc and quack you can find, whoever can figure out and fix Harang becomes the arm specialist for the Reds.

And you fine Duhhsty for being Duhhsty.

Then send a huge check to the local churches and start praying for Harang .

i dont think it has anything to do with his physical health, he just isnt hitting his spots and harang just doesnt have good enough stuff to be wild he has to hit his spots to be effective just let hijm pitch to get the rust out

If he's only hitting mid 80s (which I read on here and a couple other) its more than just hitting his spots.

harang usually throws low ninetys to high eightys anyway just let him keep working up here and if he doesnt show any signs of improving in about three or four starts then start sending him to the doctors

He needs to be shut down and see doctors now. I wouldn't let him throw another pitch.

he really shouldn't throw again...i know he wants to come back, but at this point, it's worthless. they need to re-evaluate him and focus on getting him healthy.

    Re: Is Harang ruined?

He could be ruined but I doubt it, his injury was hardly a major one.

Re-evaluate him right now with every doctor you can get a hold of. If he's fine, it could be he just forgot some of his important mechanics because he didn't pitch for a while and just needs to remember them. Shutting him down wouldn't help him relearn. Give him another start or two. If it continues, then shut him down and let the arm rest. If he's not fine, well the answer to that's obvious.

Even shutting him down now is an ok idea. Let him get his groove back in over the off-season and during spring. He'll be fine.

I think if Harang is ruined we could be in deep trouble in the near future. He's critical to the team's success.

    Re: Is Harang ruined?

I don't yet if Harang is ruined or not. Actually, "ruined" is a pretty strong term in this day and age.

That said, I can't help but think about the scout who reportedly asked if we were trying to ruin Harang by pitching him after one rehab start.

You really have to wonder if other teams just kind of sit back and laugh at some of the things the Reds do. I mean sure, teams like the Royals and Pirates don't have room to laugh much. But if the Reds can find a way to do something utterly stupid, I'm sure they will, or have.
