Johnson will be a free agent at the end of the season. The Arizona Republic doesn't think he is ready to retire. The D-Backs have to be looking for a place to slot Max Scherzer in the rotation, so it might not be difficult to outbid the incumbent for the unit's services. Johnson's numbers are remarkable for a 44 year old man, but he has always been a physical freak of nature who defies logic. I think a decent left handed starter is a problem with this team, considering the dimensions of the ballpark.

If we are going to go out into the market in the offseason, the Reds could probably meet the salary demands of Johnson and still go after a corner outfielder. How much would Johnson be worth, assuming that he could always be cast as the best loogy in the game if starting fails miserably?
