Fort Wayne lost so Dayton maintains their three game lead with just seven games remaining. Barring a big choke job they should make the playoffs.

Louisville and Billings are the other two Reds affiliates to make the postseason.

starting Ramirez would go off the Reds gameplan because it would make to much sense.

The Reds drafted second baseman Alex Buchholz in the sixth round out of Delaware, where he hit .319/.401/.515 for the Fightin’ Blue Hens. Although the sample size is small, Buchholz’ professional stats have been even more impressive as he’s hitting a mammoth .372/.460/.616 through his first 86 at-bats in the Pioneer League.

    Tensions high in Mustangs' win

    By Gazette News Services

The Billings Mustangs came from behind to beat the Missoula Osprey 6-2 Monday night at Dehler Park in a game that featured a near brawl and five ejections in the eighth inning.

After falling behind 2-0 in the second inning, Mustangs pitchers Jamie Arneson, Brandon Rice and Mike Bohana shut out the Osprey over the final seven as Billings won for just the third time in its last 13 games.

David Sappelt homered and Mike Konstanty drove in two runs for the Mustangs, who outhit the Osprey 8-6. Matt Stiffler had three of the Mustangs' hits.

Tensions spilled over in the bottom of the eighth inning when Missoula pitcher Brandon Burke threw behind Mustangs batter Alex Buchholz. Buchholz, who was making his first start after missing more than a month with a broken hand, dropped his bat and started walking toward the mound but was intercepted by Missoula catcher Chris Davis.

Benches cleared at that point, though no punches were thrown. Billings outfielder Byron Wiley and Davis then exchanged words, but again, nothing happened with that confrontation. Burke and Davis were ejected from the game, joining manager Audo Vicente, who had been ejected for arguing with the umpires just prior to Burke throwing behind Buchholz. Wiley and Mustangs catcher Jordan Wideman were also ejected from the game.

Burke and both benches had been issued a warning by home plate umpire Brett Houseman earlier in the inning when Burke had thrown high and tight to Wideman. The umpires appeared to be trying to defuse some tension dating back to a ninth-inning incident on Sunday when Mustangs pitcher Junior Martinez hit Jake Elmore of the Osprey in the back in a 13-3 game.

Arneson, who started for the Mustangs, allowed one earned run, two overall, in five innings. Rice (2-2) threw two scoreless innings before Bohana followed with a scoreless eighth and ninth to earn his second save.

The teams play again tonight at 7 at Dehler Park.

Chattanooga and Dayton have already been involved in huge bench clearing brawls this year and now Billings is trying to get in on some of that action.

Jesh. Louisville and Sarasota need to step it up and stop being such Choir boys... lol

My most favorite charge the mound ever whas when Dunn was hit by some Phillies pitcher years ago, Dunn dropped his bat put his tounge in his cheek and started tightening his batting gloves, my friend was all like uh oh... Unfortunatly Liberthal tackled him from behind before he could get to the mound. Love to see the damage big Donkey coulda done.

I have to say that my favorite was when young Robin Ventura thought it would be a good idea to charge Nolan Ryan..... headlock and a few punches later, Ventura was not looking so good.
