    Magglio Ordonez A Red?

MLBTR suggest the Reds would be a perfect fit for Maggs. Perhaps they should try to acquire one of their starters as well.. Bonderman would be my choice but Robertson and Willis are rumored to move. All this talk is circled around the Tigers attempt to shed payroll.

A huge contract with huge injury risk...

I really wouldn't want D-Train. I wouldn't mind getting Maggs and Bonderman though. Depending on what the Reds have to give up though.

D-Train is worth less than zero. He can't pitch and is still signed for, what, 3 more years?

I think Mags would be a good fit. He won't cost as much as Holliday (trade value or salary) and could be the solid RH bat the Reds need.

    I should hope not.

I'd love to have him and he is the kind of guy we need in the middle of the lineup but he's due $18mill next year with a $3mill buyout for 2010. The Tigers would need to eat at least half of that to interest me.

I'd love to trade for Willis, move him to the outfield, and bat him and Owings three and four in the lineup

Young, cheap players are the way to go in the near future.

The Reds need to focus on a quality SS instead of an aging DH.

I hope not... but it does sound like a WJ move.

I would in no way mind Mags in LF for this club in 2009.

If they are committed to trying to materially improve the team next season, then Mags makes a whole lot of sense. Tons of it.

If he is the one addition and they make a few other acquisitions of the CPatt/Mercker/Fogg genre, then you might be better served holding off and planning for 2-3 years from now. Take his money and spend $10MM in the draft next June.

That would work out for me. That solves your centerfield problem and lead off hitter problem.
