In HS, I swung awkwardly at a breaking ball and the bat slipped out of my hands and would have drilled the 1B coach had he not dove out of the way.
While I can see the "he deliberately threw the bat" argument, it's not out of the realm of possibility his hands were sweaty.
I know I wasn't trying to throw the bat at my 1B coach.
We've had three or four collisions at the plate this year where the runner lowered the shoulder and went into the catcher a bit hard. There's always typically some contact on the bases with runners sliding in under tags, and we'll have fielders occasionally bump into each other. And let's not forget pitchers getting drilled on shots smashed up the middle.

It's definitely a contact sport for the pitcher. I have had enough bruises and scars over the years to attest to that.

My knee that's still sore 6 weeks after the season ended thanks to a collision sliding in at 3B suggests it is indeed a contact sport. And I agree with ORH, pitching is definitely a contact sport. Uggh.
Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.
The lawsuit was desperate and frivolous in the first place.

Anyone who claims it's not a contact sport has never played it. I've got the scars to prove it.
