    Uc vs Akron

Bearcats win 17-15 on a 48 yard field goal by their inconsistent place kicker. Bad news besides the close score: Tony Pike broke his left arm and is expected to miss 4 weeks. The Bearcat QB position seems cursed this year, the curse of Ben Mauk?

Tony Pike really looked good in limited time. I think that he could seriously compete for first team all Big East if he hadn't gotten hurt. In the meantime, I wouldn't be suprised to see D. Jones get some playing time next week.

I would just like to thank Time Warner cable for allowing me to see the game..... oh wait.

It really sucks to see (or hear, thanks again TWC) Pike go down.

The offensive playbook just got a whole lot thinner for Marshall. Let's keep in mind that Colleros, Anderson and Jones all have higher ceilings than Grutza or Pike. I also think it's time for Isiah Pead to get a higher bulk of the carries. He's now ineligible to be redshirted, so they might as well use him and get him experience.

You take a win any way you can get one (especially on the road). The Cats will be okay, but they did not look good yesterday.

All models are wrong. Some of them are useful.

I agree that the three have higher ceilings than Grutza, but I disagree on Pike. His arm is top notch. His accuracy, which was considered his weakness, has been very good so far. IMO, he should be given all the starts the rest of the year, once he comes back. I know he's a Junior, but he's shown poise like he had been starting since his freshman year.

Lets start Chazz Anderson and Isiah Pead and have our own version of White and Slaton, to a lesser degree of course. On the other Hand, Zach Collors can very a very good QB in this offence. Very good.

As the resident Akron Zip guy around here, I want to thank the 12,000+ fans who braved the elements at the Rubber Bowl to watch the game.

JD Brookhart, for being an offensive guru, sure can't figure out the Chris Jacqueman is not a MAC quarterback.
