    Fun Facts

I'm posting this article because I thought these were neat facts about some of our Reds players for this past season. It's always nice to see some good things from time to time too, LOL

    • John Lackey of the Angels joined Aaron Harang of the Reds as the only pitchers to strike out seven straight batters in a game this season.
Joey Votto and Jay Bruce of the Reds joined Fred Lynn and Jim Rice (1975), Wayne Gross and Mitchell Page (1977), Gary Gaetti, Kent Hrbek and Tom Brunansky (1982), and Dan Uggla and Josh Willingham (2006) as the only pairs of rookie teammates since 1969 to each hit at least 20 homers in a campaign.
"I tried to play golf, but I found out I wasn't very good." -Joey Votto on his offseason hobby search

An MLB.com reporter asked what one thing Votto couldn’t do. “I can’t skate or play hockey,” Votto said. “Well, I can skate ... but I can’t stop.”

It was a gutsy performance nonetheless. Every season has a turning point. IMO that game was the turning point of this season. The Reds had won two in a row and were looking to salvage a bad west coast swing that had started with four losses. After coming from behind to take a lead, twice the Reds had the game in hand, but were unable to get the final three outs. Dusty rolled the dice and brought in Harang and Volquez in relief. We lost the game and Harang was not the same for most of the year.
