    Nate McLouth

Rumors are circulating that the Pirates might be putting him on the block to acquire younger cheaper talent.

So would he be worth giving up a Drew Stubbs and another minor league prospect to play centerfield for the Reds? Or do you gut it out with Dickinson/Freel/Hairston combination till Stubbs is ready about midseason?

McClouth is one of the worst CFs in baseball defensively. I wouldn't go after him as an option to play CF.

Now here's a good target, Krusty, if it wasn't for his breakout 2008 season. I just think the asking price would be too much because, while I think he is a nice player, he is overrated by his hot start and being an all-star.

And for those of you who have seen the Drew Stubbs thread (well, one of them) concerning his power potential here is an example of a player who developed power once he got to the majors. His minor league career isoP was .135 and it stands at .200 in 1484 career PA's in MLB...

I think he would be an excellent defender in LF...

Very well could be. I am not sure I wouldn't go after him as a left fielder, but I wouldn't let him play in CF. Depends on the price for sure, throwing him out there in LF wouldn't be a terrible idea.

I think he'd be something less than excellent. Something much less.

If all there were to playing center field was to go left to right and come in on balls, he would be decent. But there is more. He can't throw worth spit, but his big problem is going back on balls. He has absolutely no instinctive reactions. He simply turns, runs, and then tries to pick up the ball. He is not a center fielder.

    Which is why it'll happen.

    Burrell is older.

    Burrell plays worse LF D.

Burrell doesn't produce as well offensively.

.... and it's possible Burrell will get a bigger paycheck than Dunn this offseason.
