IMO 70s rock blows the 60s out of the water...bands such as

    AC/DC
    Sabbath
    Led Zep
    Pink Floyd
    Aerosmith
    KISS
    Van Halen
    Skynyrd
    Boston
    Bad Co.
    ZZ Top
    Bob Segar
    BOC

Thank God rockers put that selfish hippy crap behind and starting making good music about having a good time!

60's music was more socially conscious. We were gonna change the world that our parents were screwing up. Someone had to save it.

The 70's was the time for the arena bands with their huge productions. I saw a majority of the bands you list above, plus several more. It was definitely "good time" music because most had a hard time remembering those concerts the next day, and it took you a week to get your hearing back.

And I would add Grand Funk, Deep Purple, Styx, Foreigner, Kansas, and Ted Nugent to the above list.

60's - All Along the Watchtower - Jimi Hendrix
    70's - Southern Man - Neil Young
    80's - 18 & Life - Skid Row
    90's - Sober - Tool
    00's - Clocks - Coldplay

I feel like I want to give Dave Matthews' Two Step and Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here an honorable mention, but love songs just can't be on the list. The 80s and 00s are pretty much been terrible decades for rock music.
