I believe that children increase your capacity for love. And patience. Your excitement will only grow as your child grows and he hits developmental milestones.
Congratulations, jpup! Fantastic news. Our only child is a girl, now 6 (nearly 7) going on 12. By far the best thing ever to happen to me. Be patient and enjoy every minute and every stage. Don't wish any of the stages to pass before the time actually comes. It all goes so fast anyway.

Congrats, jpup! My wife and I are expecting our first child as well. She is due on my birthday in January. I told her if she has the kid on my birthday, I don't expect a birthday gift!
We are having a boy, and are naming him Casey. We had a lot more options if it were a girl. Good luck narrowing it down, and prayers for your family's health.

Good luck, you will need itIt is the greatest thing you will ever experience, but also one of the hardest. From the first night home, you wonder why the hospital would allow someone so inexperienced to take home a precious little baby. She won't come with directions either.
Every night you will freak out at every little noise or movement, worrying about if she is okay or not. It is tough mentally/emotionally/even physically, but man they are awesome. My little boy is 8 wks and 1 day and time has just FLEW by... I can see waking up one day and him being all grown up. Enjoy it. Don't get too caught up with all of the stress. Make a point to go out without the baby once a month or so in order to remain sane.
