The PERFECT acquisition for the Reds

    I am 33 years old.
    My OPS+ the last three years were 111, 131 & 112.
I am a RH power hitter.
    I play 1B.
I play very good defense at 1B.
I have two years left on my contract @ $13M/year.
I am very much available as my team wants to clear my position and salary to add a LH bat.
I would look fantastic in a Reds uniform while Alonso and Frazier develop in AA & AAA.
    Who am I?

The Reds already have a first baseman.

He has a no-trade clause and I can't imagine he'd be cheap to acquire. And like jojo said, the Reds already have a 1st baseman.

There have been numerous conversations on this board about Votto going to LF when Alonso is ready ( or move now to learn the position ).
    Jocketty has even stated this.

    no

he could be relatively inexpensive to acquire as the Cubs want to add a LH bat and he is coming off a subpar year

That should be considered plan C IMHO and Alonzo has to force the issue in a big way because it's looking more and more like Votto is a complete first baseman and not just a bat. If Votto's leather is proven to be real and he can maintain an average bat for a firstbaseman, then really, it's Alonzo that should be in the moving conversations (as in what can we get by trading this "hot" batting prospect)

I don't think he will be cheap to acquire within the division.

Sometimes I think that about half or maybe more of the Reds players are first basemen, have you seen them field. I know you have.

Lee makes perfect sense for the Reds, moving Votto to LF.

[steven a. smith]HOWEVA[/steven a. smith] the Cubs are in desperate need of a left handed bat so you know they will be asking for Votto or Bruce in a trade, and I'm not giving up either of them.

If the Reds could somehow swing a deal where we don't have to give up Votto or Bruce, I'd be all for it. I don't see that happening, though.

    Perfect acquisition?

“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

Yonder is not set in stone for a 2010 appearance first and foremost. Secondly 1st base is not the only position that the Reds are working him as. They will get him time at 3rd and probably some OF expeience.

They could pick up Patterson and Bako cheap, and platoon them.

    Lou would love it ...........

    .....then again maybe not.
