    GM Meetings Thread

I figure this will be a hot topic this week. Walt has already stated most of the ground work starts at the GM Meetings and this board thrives on any whisper of news. So I dedicate this thread to GM Meetings discussions, news, and rumblings.

    Re: Winter Meetings Thread

It's the General Managers meetings, I believe.

Groundwork starts there, then they pretty much do the same thing during the Winter Meetings.

A lot of standing around and talking.

Yes, this week is the GM meetings. The Winter Meetings aren't until December.

I began my wandering early this morning and spotted a few high ranking team officials but mostly I just got some exercise.

Yankees General Manager Brian Cashman (wearing sandals in the spirit of southern California) sat on the back porch that over looks the hotelís golf course and the Pacific Ocean with Reds General Manager Walt Jocketty for about a half-hour.

    I miss Adam Dunn.

That's interesting.... I'm sure they weren't talking about anything, but the weather, but ... what business could we possibly have w/ the Yankees? That's a fun guessing game to play :-)

I'll call a room service waiter I know at the St. Regis and see what he knows.

Or, maybe I'll just put on some flip-flops and wander around the lobby like I'm a GM.

May not be trade talk at all. Yanks may be curious about Dunn.

Okay.... guess no one is as starved for meaningless GM meetings chatter as I am ... :-)

Maybe WJ is inquiring about Xavier Nady for LF? That'd be a decent pickup and Nady will be particularly expendable if the Yanks land Manny (as is likely).

Maybe WJ likes he the idea of acquiring young Cody Ransom as a 3b or SS prospect/possibility...

Maybe BC is inquiring on the Reds and seeing if we're in rebuild mode... aka... testing Harang's availability?

    What think ye?

Raisor has already sent an email to Walt requesting the return of Juan Castro. Let's hope he quickly deleted that particular email.

Isn't Cody Ransom like this 30-something year old career minor leaguer? Or am I confusing him with someone else?

You are right...maybe he is thinking of Colby Rasmus...I tend to get the names confused.
