Re: Movies you can watch over and over again...

I think I've watched The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly five times in the last month.

Anyone else ever notice the huge similarities between two Wayne movies Rio Bravo and El Dorado?

recovering alcoholic sheriffs - Dean Martin, Robert Mitchum
sheriff sidekicks - Walter Brennan, Arthur Hunnicut
young gun - Ricky Nelson, James Caan

Same storyline.... a sheriff, and cohorts, defending the town, against belligerent outlaw elements in the town.
"In my day you had musicians who experimented with drugs. Now it's druggies experimenting with music" - Alfred G Clark (circa 1972)

Yeah I can't wait for that Band of Brothers (Pacific) either, hopefully it's even close to a quality film as the original. Loved 12 angry men also both the classic and new versions. It's rare to find a film that mainly has just one location the entire film and it's compelling to boot.

Also I see a few people listed Groundhog Day that's a tough one for me to avoid. Murray was awesome in that.

If it has John Wayne or Clint Eastwood in it - I'll watch. I have collected most of their movies; but if it's on, I'll watch it again and again.

I'm addicted to westerns and war pics. On the weekends, when I'm not watching sports, my TV stays on either Encore Westerns or AMC.

Tombstone (I think I have this one memorized)

O Brother Where Art Thou? (Really, anything by the Cohen brothers)

    Silverado

    The Princess Bride

    The Longest Day

    Battle of the Bulge

I love Sergio Leone spaghetti westerns. I just watched a special on this a couple weeks ago with interviews by actors like Eastwood, Coburn, Lee Van Cleef, Eli Wallach, and other American actors. The first thing most said was "What does an Italian director know about the American west?"

I definitely loved the Trinity (My Name Is Nobody) series with Terrence Hill and Bud Spencer.
Yeah the last few years I have come to appreciate Westerns and War movies much more. I used to avoid them like the plague for whatever reason. But once I watched Lonsesome Dove I slowly started to check them out and have become a big fan of the genre. And of course we both love the Hill/Spencer movies as we have discussed previously.

The Sons of Katie Elder isn't far off. But love 'em anyhow.

One of my all-time favorites, can't believe I didn't think of it. You'll never see another movie again with so many big-name actors in it.

Another oldie but favorite of mine is The Russians Are Coming the Russians Are Coming.

Make that six times. AMC is having a "Make My Saturday" Eastwood marathon all day today.

Tuesday is "Best Vets" marathon (war pics).

Those are classics. I guess Cannonball Run came close, as far as big name stars appearing.
