I have to admit that of all the guys on the list, Kent is the one I'd be least interested in. I would prefer signing a guy like him and moving Votto to LF (where I think he is destined to wind-up) than to deal off a bunch of their trading material for a rental of Matt Holiday or some other short term fix.

Being in LA, what do you know about Jason Repko and Delwyn Young. Both guys seem like they could be useful, but the Dodgers don't seem to have much room. I like Young's bat, but I like Repko better because I think he's a better defender and all around player. Any info? If LA re-signs Furcal, I'd like to see the Reds approach them with the intention of acquiring a Hu/Repko package. I'd assume it would not take a lot.

Nobody is kicking them around regularly perhaps but a handful of those guys have been at least touched on. The last 3 have been discussed more than once, Hu ad nauseum.

    Willits
    Buck
    Millar
    Anderson (OF)
    Montero

    Hu
    Arias

I don't see a need to trade any parts for a 5th starter type to add to the mix. Keeping an eye out for relief pitchers is always a good idea though, and I would target Sisco and Correia. Also, I would move people for Ronny Cedeno if the Cubs would trade him to us. How is Robert Andino's defense?

Generally agree unless you can steal one. The Reds will need to deal some of the young pitching to fill other holes. Getting a starter with upsde in a buy low move never hurts. I like a lot of these guys as guys to ask for in a bigger deal or as groups in a package. Trading for Maggs or Thames? Ask for James Skelton too. Pawning something off on the Mets? Pagan, Vargas and/or Thole could address multiple needs down the road. Etc.

I didn't think Andino had what it took to play SS, I thought he was pretty much destined to play 2B, but I am not real sure where I got that info at this point.

Not much I can say really 'cause Repko really hasn't played since '06 and I just didn't see much of Young.

By recollection, my thoughts about Repko were that he might be one of those 'tweeners. Not great power but, well, OK, he was playing in Chavez Ravine so a park like GAB would help him there. Strong arm. Originally was and infielder but has had so many injuries that it's almost macabre---you might want to go after him if he includes parts and warrenty paid for by the Dodgers.

The Reds have a top 15 pick, so no they would not.

It just wouldn't be their 1st round pick, but they'd still lose a pick. It would be their 2nd round pick if he was the highest rated FA they signed.

Thanks for the names to ponder, mth. I wouldn't mind the Reds making a splash by acquiring a big name, but patience and some names off your list probably make more sense.

Thanks for all the hard work putting that list together mth .. don't really have a comment, but that's an interesting list.
