Looks like I accidentally left a n out in Danny. It's been a long day. I just got back from Tennessee with family and friends a little while ago...my buddies I rode with somehow managed to turn a five hour drive into an eight hour drive.

    I went with Dorn again.

Re: Who is Redszone's #12 prospect?

I like Dorn's power bat. He looks like he'll be a true major league hitter IMO, even if its in a platoon role. Being a LH Hitter, he'll still be a major contributor to some team. As a low round pick, he doesn't get as much credit as more publicized guys, but he'll help the Reds at some point in 2009. If the Reds want to go ahead and move Votto to LF in anticipation of Alonso, a Dorn/Keppinger platoon at 1B might be as productive as anything they can acquire. They just may need to muddle through until Memorial day or so while Dorn gets some AAA ABs.

Alonso and Frazier get a lot of pub, but Dorn is one reason that I think the urgency over getting another corner player is a bit overblown. The Reds need more help in run prevention (i.e. defense at SS and maybe 3B and maybe another solid inning guy for the rotation. I'm also beginning to think that the young guys for the pen like Roenicke, Fisher and even Bray aren't ready for a late inning role) and resources should be sent towards those needs. Internal options can probably fortify the corner spots and add to the offense. The lack of fanfare probably means that Dorn would need to prove himself at the major league level before the Reds could get much in trade for him. That is one reason I'd hang on to him and look to deal more noted minor leaguers as the Reds try to add the necessary pieces.
All my posts are my opinion - just like yours are. If I forget to state it and you're too dense to see the obvious, look here!

Let's hope Dany Dorn is as good as Danny Dorn. Maybe Dany can be Danny's platoon partner?
