Entertaining but not the best work by DreamWorks.
Kung Fu Panda rocked! I saw this at the cheap theater about one month ago. It was very funny. I'll give it an A.
Note: a fair amount of the humor comes from Jack Black so if you don't like him you probably won't like the movie.
It also helps a LOT to be a fan of kung fu movies.

Something I got out of the Red Box here in Kansas City. I watched about thirty minutes and just returned it. It was pretty bad. I don't even remember the name. Should I mention one before that so I can mention something I liked?

Re: What was the most recent movie I watched?

I've watched five movies in the past week.

    Quantum Trost
I watched it in a German movie theater last week, so I probably missed a couple things since my German isn't yet perfect. Overall, though, this is one of those movies that's worth seeing only in the movie theater. Without the aid of good audio and video mediums, the most redeemable parts of the film can't be enjoyed. In other words, there was plenty of action but not much story or plot. Some scenes were amazing, but overall, it wasn't nearly as good as Casino Royale.

    Stop/Loss
I just watched this last night, and I thought it was very good. Most of the actors aren't particularly talented, but their performances were good enough to not drag the movie down. Being 'stop/lossed' isn't something that's talked about much unless you're close to someone who has been through it, but it's such a powerful, important topic that the director apparently didn't need any super-hyped, show-stealing performers to make the movie worth watching.

    Madagascar 2
I have seen much worse sequels, but that's very faint praise. Madagascar was a good kid's movie, but the second doesn't hold a candle to it. The movie will surely entertain kids and really dumb adults, but beyond that, it was just a bunch of predictable jokes.

    Burn After Reading
I expect more from a Coen brothers film. Don't get me wrong--it's a decent movie--but it gets a little too goofy in certain parts. I don't have a problem with a film being unrealistic as long as it adds to the humor, but in this case, it often didn't. If you're a Coen brothers fan like me, you'll probably think this movie was just okay, despite Brad Pitt being hilarious and John Malkovich being so amazing, but I get the feeling that if they had more time to spend on this film, it would have made the difference between 'okay' and 'great'.

    The Visitor
This was my favorite movie that I saw this week. The lead actor, Richard Jenkins (who was in Burn After Reading, too), did an amazing job as a dorky college professor who is surprised to find strangers living an apartment of his. Being a foreigner, the message at the end of the film is something I can really relate to, personally, and it hit home with me. But you don't need to relate to the movie to enjoy it. There's enough comedy and drama for everyone.

I saw Transsiberian a few days ago. Pretty good.
I've been to dinner at Jimmy Buffet's house, and I've eaten it at a homeless shelter. And there's great joy and harrowing terror to be found in both places.

Saw Get Smart! too. It wasn't really all that good.

    Hot Fuzz is great.

Last movie I watched was Leatherheads. Two hours of Renee Zellweger squinting. Slept through half of it.

Austin Powers: Goldmember. I really enjoyed this movie even though it was like the 20th time I have seen it. It is still hilarious but if you don't enjoy mindless humor, this movie is not for you.

I've seen three movies in the last 5 days: Rocky IV, The Living Daylights, and Changeling.
I thought that Changeling was a superb film. Angelina Jolie did a great job of acting in that one IMO.

Saw the latest Bond last night, Quantum of Solace.

Probably would have helped if I had seen Casino Royale, however...

Seemed like a really short movie, there were no cool Bond gadgets, and I thought the eye candy was non-existent. The main Bond girl didn't do much for me (since they used a Russian to play a Bolivian... makes sense, right?), and the redhead that was supposed to watch him for a night was pretty decent, but her on screen time was very short, so I couldn't really make up my mind.

An American Carol----wanted to see what "conservative" Hollywood thinks is funny. It actually started out pretty funny in a Naked Gun/Airplane! way (One of the Zuckers is involved with the movie); but quickly bogged down into becoming a history lesson. Wasnt horrible---just wasnt sidesplitting---David Alan Grier was actually pretty funny, unfortunately, Bill O'Reilly makes an awkward appearance....

Heck I watch a couple of movies a week at least. But for the life of me can't remember the last. So for the heck of it I'll just throw a recent one I seen that was better than I expected. Flyboys: a movie inspired by the true story of America's 1st fighter pilots of WWI. Starring James Franco of Spiderman fame.

I just watched Happy-Go-Lucky, and I was really impressed. The actors, none of whom I'd seen before, were phenomenal. Just as a warning, though: it's not for everyone. It's a movie focused on a British, happy-go-lucky woman who is interested in finding love, so it's not something I'd recommend to many people on a sports message board.

    SPOILERS! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

Quantum of Solace was kind of disappointing. Daniel Craig was great, the fight scenes were great, Agent Fields was great to look at, but the main bad guy plot was underwhelming. It was like I was watching one of Bond's unknown smaller missions. IMO, Quantum of Solace should have been what the next movie is going to be- actually about Quantum. I can see what they were trying to do with renegade angry Bond out for revenge but I feel like Dominic Green trying to steal water in Bolivia was pretty...lackluster. The "secret organization" was WAY more interesting but we never get to see it really. Looking forward to the end of the trilogy though, they've set it up to be a good one.

My wife and I just finished watching for the umpteenth time the 1962 classic, To Kill A Mockingbird. What a superbly crafted film with several great performances throughout, including Gregory Peck's Oscar winning lead.

    Role Models

I thouroughly enjoyed this movie. Like the previous post about it, it has a cookie cutter plot that you can easily see coming, but it is hilarious from beginning to end. The young kid that plays Stifler's little brother is hilarious. When he dresses up as Gene Simmons from Kiss I laughed well after the movie was over. If you need a funny movie, this will not dissappoint.
